Me!

Born in Portland, Oregon, Maggie McCreery (b. 2004) is an interdisciplinary furniture maker and farmer who carefully brings together their nurtured connection to plants and material persons to their work through playful sculptural worlds, narratives, and mapping material lifespans.

Driven by a longing to know materials and structures at the scale they call home, Maggie’s work exists to show joy and compassion towards not just the human form, but to the forms and beings that are part of their furniture’s growing, making, and eventual decaying process. Through material sourcing conscientiousness, Maggie aims to ensure this decay is non-disruptive, not expedited, and even beneficial to local environments.

McCreery is earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Furniture Design with a Concentration in Nature-Culture-Sustainability-Studies from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
